To provide a centrifugal brake which does not perform a brake operation before a predetermined amount of centrifugal force is generated in a brake shoe but performs the brake operation by a smaller amount of centrifugal force than a predetermined amount of centrifugal force in a braking state.
Before a centrifugal force (rotation number) generated by integral rotation with the rotation of a brake boss 20 reaches a predetermined amount of centrifugal force, it is possible to keep a shoe-restricted state in which a shoe-side braking surface 27 does not abut a fixed-side braking surface 30, that is, a locked state in which a locking member 33 with a jaw is not unlocked from a jaw-locked portion 34. After the centrifugal force reaches the predetermined amount, it is ppssible to set a brake-effective state in which the shoe-side braking surface 27 abuts the fixed-side braking surface 30 is achieved by making a shoe-unrestricted state in which the shoe-restricted state is released, that is, an unlocked state in which the locking member 33 with a jaw is unlocked from the jaw-locked portion 34. At the same time, it is possible to continue an unrestricted braking operation that is a braking operation in the shoe-unrestricted state with after the state gets in the shoe-unrestricted state.
