PURPOSE: To provide a centrifugal type brake device capable of braking a bearing or the like or transmitting power speedily and uniformly in rising of rotation irrespective of the rotating direction of the bearing or the like.
CONSTITUTION: Two sets of brake shoes 6, 7 and linings 8, 9 disposed in a bearing 4 and a boss 5 which are turned around the center of a brake drum 2 are energized by coil springs 12 in such a manner as to be separated from the inner circumferential surface 3 of the brake drum 2 and approach each other. When a rotating speed of the bearing 4 or the like reaches a predetermined value, the linings 8, 9 are oscillated toward the inner circumferential surface 3 by centrifugal force, to be frictionally engaged with the inner circumferential surface 3 in a slidable fashion. Since the linings 8, 9 and the inner circumferential surface 3 are brought into a so-called projected state, relatively numerous portions at the tip in the rotating direction of the linings 8, 9 where large torque is applied to the bearing 4 or the like exist by the number of all the linings 8, 9. Consequently, it is possible to brake the bearing 4 or the like in rising of rotation to a predetermined rotating speed by the relatively large torque.
