Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new cephem compound useful as an antimicrobial agent, especially, an antimicrobial agent effective against MRSA.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (R1 is H, an amino-protecting group; R2 is H, hydroxyimino-protecting group or alkyl; R3 is acetyl, amino, carbamoyl, etc.; R4 is carboxyl or carboxylate), e.g. 7β-[2-aminothiazol-4-ly)-2-syn- methoxyiminoacetamide]-3-[(E)-3-[3-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl) pyridinio]-1-propenyl]-3- cephem-4-carboxylate, is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with NaI to afford iodide and then reacting the resultant iodide with a pyridine derivative of formula III to give a compound of formula IV having pyridiniopropenyl group and then removing the protecting group of the compound.
