Abstract:

To provide a ceramic building material which shows high photocatalytic activity and is highly effective in preventing deposition of stains and growth of molds and algae.

The ceramic building material is formed by applying a coating film on a surface of a ceramic substrate 1. The outermost surface of the coating film is formed from a photocatalyst-containing inorganic coating film 2, provided that the photocatalyst contained in the photocatalyst-containing inorganic coating film 2 is titanium oxide having an average particle size of 20-30 nm.
