Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a metal composite material having strength corresponding to the compound rule is not obtained since the wetting between a matrix metal and a ceramic fiber of a reinforcing fiber is difficult when producing the fiber-reinforced metal composite material, and the composite material of the ceramic fiber with a light metal is chemically unstable due to a carbidization reaction of aluminum or its alloy, metal silicon or its alloy, magnesium metal or its alloy, or the like with the carbon of the ceramic fiber. SOLUTION: The ceramic fiber after removing the carbon component on the surface of the ceramic fiber is used as the reinforcing fiber. As a result, the matrix metal and the ceramic fiber as the reinforcing material are wetted well to provide a metal composite material having the strength corresponding to the compound rule. The composite material with the light metal is chemically stable, since the carbidization reaction of the aluminum or its alloy, the metal silicon or its alloy, the magnesium metal or its alloy, or the like by the carbon component is prevented.
