To provide a ceramic material suitable for producing a base for a strong dental restoration.

This ceramic material is produced by (1) mixing a ceramic material such as an oxide ceramic material substantially comprising aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide and/or titanium oxide as raw materials with a glass ingredient, (2) substantially melting the glass ingredient through a sintering process in the mixture so as for the glass ingredient to penetrate through the ceramic material and obtaining a raw material for the objective ceramic material through reaction in the surface and; (3) producing the ceramic material by a method which comprises changing the mixture into a form (e.g. powder) suitable for processing (e.g. sintering). The base for a dental restoration 8 (e.g. a tooth crown) which is applied on a burying component 1 and is covered with a covering layer 6 is produced using the ceramic material.
