PURPOSE: To obtain powerful joining force which obviates generation of interfa cial exfoliation after joining of ceramics and metal by incorporating rare earths at specific ratios into simple substances of Fe, Ti, Al, Nb, etc., or the alloy thereof, thereby forming a joining material.

CONSTITUTION: This joining material is prepd. by incorporating the rare earths such as Sm, La, Ce, Y, and Nd at 0.01W1% into simple substances of Fe, Ti, Al, Nb, etc., or the alloy thereof in joining of the ceramics and metal. This ceramics joining material is made into thin foil of about ≤0.1mm. After such joining material is deposited on the surface of a material to be joined, the material is heated so that the material is welded by diffusion.
