Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electron-ion mixed conductive ceramics which is small in the resistance to oxygen separation and can separate the oxygen faster than heretofore and an oxygen separator using the ceramics.
SOLUTION: The mixed conductive ceramics is formed by using a solid solution multi component oxide of CeO2-ZrO2 having a composition expressed by Ce2-xZrxO4-δ (x=0.125 to 1.9, δ=0 to 0.5) for the mixed conductive ceramics. The main crystalline system of the mixed conductive ceramics is cubic and is regularly arrayed with Ce and Zr. This oxygen separator is an oxygen separator by a mixed conductor partition process and has a high-concentration oxygen chamber and a low-concentration oxygen chamber which are isolated by a partition consisting of the mixed conductive ceramics from each other. As a result, the efficient oxygen separation can be performed even at the temperature lower than heretofore and the good working oxygen separator can be obtained.
