Title:
CERVICAL VERTEBRA/VERTEBRA FIXING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06218003
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a compact cervical fixing device and facilitate an installation by implanting one end of a bone screw having a long axis to a cervical vertebra, accommodating a clamp assembly body at the other end and setting a rod-receiving half-slit in the clamp assembly body oriented at a pre-determined angle against the long axis of the bone screw. CONSTITUTION: Bone screws 90 are set inside the side mass and a spacer is installed in order to raise the bone screws 90 to a predetermined height on the plane of the bone. The bone screws 90 are inserted on each side of a cervical vertebra, lower saddles 110 and 150 are assembled on the bone screws 90, and a rod 58 is installed within the lower saddles 110 and 150. Next, upper saddles 190 and 230 are assembled on the bone screws 90 and the rod 58, and the assembled entirety is held together with a locking assembly body 60 which functions to fix the saddles to the bone screws 90 by bolting the upper and lower saddles 190, 230, 110 and 150 to a rod 58. On the upper surface of the lower saddles 110 and 150, a rod-receiving half-slit orifice 130 is formed and, on the lower surface 192 of the upper saddles 190 and 230, a rod-receiving half-slit orifice 206 is formed.
