To provide a chafer cord which improves the adhesiveness of the chafer cord to a rubber on the vulcanization or employment of a tire, and to provide a vehicle tire.
The chafer cord 20 includes brass-plated steel wires in which laminated structure portions formed by laminating amorphous portions having a composition comprising 55 to 66 wt.% of Cu and the remainder of Zn and formed from crystal particles having a particle diameter of not more than 20 nm to crystalline portions including crystal particles having a particle diameters of less than 20 nm are formed, wherein the rate of the area occupying the surfaces of the amorphous portions of the laminated structure portion to the whole surface of the brass-plated layers is not less than 20%; the rate of the volume occupied by the amorphous portions to the whole volume of the layer-twisted structure portion is not less than 20 and not more than 80%; the brass-plated steel wires are applied to 50% or more of the outermost sheath filaments in the layer-twisted structure, and to 50% or more of the outermost layer sheath filaments of the outermost strands in the multitwisted structure. The chafer cord 20 is applied to a vehicle tire.
