Title:
CHAIN ADJUSTING DEVICE FOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0450091
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To miniaturize a rear fork and reduce its weight in a vehicle in which an intermediate shaft and a drive shaft are supported on the rear fork pivoted on the vehicle body frame, by supporting the intermediate shaft on a bearing projectingly provided with arms, and mounting the arms to the rear fork so that they can freely oscillate and can be freely fixed.

CONSTITUTION: In a snowmobile l constructed by utilizing the car body of a motorcycle, a rear fork 12 is pivoted by a pivot 11 on the rear end of a main frame. An intermediate shaft assembly 22 is fixed to an intermediate shaft bracket 18 provided to the rear fork 12 so that its position can be freely adjusted. That is, with the intermediate shaft assembly 22, a bearing 24 is fitted onto a pipe-like intermediate shaft 23, a primary sprocket 25 and a secondary sprocket 26 are fitted to each other so that they cannot be relatively turned, and the ends of arms 29, 30 extending from the bearing 24 in opposite directions are pivoted on a pivoting hole 20 and a long hole 21 on both ends of the intermediate bracket 18. Slack of a primary chain 35 laid between an engine output sprocket 34 and the primary sprocket 25 can thus be adjusted.
