Abstract:

To strike a balance between the film surface vibration prevention effect of a chain case and the lubrication effect of a crank sprocket and a timing chain, while minimizing the increase in weight of the chain case.

A chain case 38 covering a timing chain 31 is provided with a hemi-cylindrical bulging part 46 extending from a crank sprocket 30 side toward a cam sprocket 28, 29 side and bulging to a timing chain 31 side. The bulging part 46 is disposed at a position surrounded by a trajectory of the timing chain 31. Accordingly, oil scattering to inside the chain case 38 is thereby guided to the crank sprocket 30 side along the bulging part 46 to thereby not only efficiently lubricate the crank sprocket 30 and the timing chain 31, but also to increase rigidity of the chain case 38 by the bulging part 46 so that the generation of film surface vibration is prevented.
