To provide a chain conveyor device detecting a tension applied to a conveying chain having a configuration where ring-like chain elements are alternately interlinked with each other to be endlessly connected.
A sprocket 20 for detection includes a pair of right and left sprocket teeth 21, and hitting pieces 22. When a conveying chain 7 moves, the lower end side of a connection end 8a of a first chain element 8 slidingly comes in contact with a hitting surface of the hitting piece 22. If the conveying chain 7 stops during driving, causing the tension applied to the conveying chain 7 to increase, a pressing force with which the lower end side of the connection end 8a presses the hitting surface downward increases. A proximity sensor detects the downward movement of a rotating shaft 20a moving against a spring force of a spring 27 that biases the rotating shaft 20a of the sprocket 20 for detection upward. This enables detecting the tension applied to the conveying chain.
