To provide a chain guide which prevents fall of a timing chain and attains stable circular traveling, while improving durability of the timing chain.

The chain guide includes: a protruding part 30 which is formed along an extending direction of a timing chain 100 and supports a roller 104 of the timing chain 100 with a top face 31 thereof; and a groove-like lubricating oil retaining part 35 formed by a side face 32 of the protruding part 30 and an inclined face 34 adjoining and facing an outer circumference edge 102a of an outer link plate 102 of the timing chain 100. When the timing chain 100 falls, the outer circumference edge 102a of the outer link plate 102 instantly comes in contact with the inclined face 34 to prevent the timing chain 100 from falling. The roller 104, the outer link plate 102 and the inclined face 34, where surface pressure increases by falling of the timing chain 100, are lubricated by the lubricating oil in the lubricating oil retaining part 35, thereby seizure is prevented.
