The chain-stitch sewing machine comprises: a plurality of loopers 15 for catching the loop of the sewing thread T by a hook 12a from a vertically moved sewing needle 12 and inserting a looper thread L by a swing operation; a spreader 30 provided with a plurality of sharp projections 31 for catching the looper thread from the hook of each looper and forming a loop; and a looper holding mechanism 20 for arranging and holding the respective loopers in a direction crossing the feed direction of an object to be sewn. The looper holding mechanism holds them so as to individually adjust the return amount of each looper.
