To provide a chain-stitching machine facilitating the adjustment of an embroidery- restarting position so as to enable the correction of thread breakage, when the thread breakage is generated at an embroidering head.
This chain-stitching machine is operated by moving a processing cloth together with a cloth-supporting frame from a thread breakage-generated position (where the thread is broken) to a threading position, when the breakage of the thread is generated, taking out the broken thread, moving the processing cloth together with the cloth-supporting frame from the threading position to an embroidery-restarting position, and subsequently restarting the embroidering operation. Therein, the chain-stitching machine is provided with an embroidery-restarting position-adjusting means which is operated by judging whether the embroidery-restarting position is returned to a thread-broken position or not in response to a stitching method at the thread-broken position in order to prevent the generation of a fray at the thread-broken position after the correction of the broken thread (step S5), and subsequently determining a position returned from the thread-broken position by two stitches as the embroidery-restarting position, when the embroidery-restarting position is returned (step S46, S48) (the sewing method is a chain stitch method), or determining the thread-broken position as the embroidery-restarting position, when the embroidery-restarting position is not returned (step S47, S48) (the sewing method is a loop stitch method).
