To provide a chain tensioner device, in which a tensioner arm having its one end portion rotatably born in the crankcase of an engine body in a manner to slide on the loose side outer face of a cam chain running on a chain passage formed in the engine body is urged toward a cam chain side, wherein the large size of the tensioner arm is avoided to retain the rigidity and to absorb micro-vibrations.
A tensioner arm 35 comprises: a tensioner arm body 39 made of a metal and born rotatably at its one end by a crankcase; a slipper 40 made of a resin and held in the tensioner arm body while being in sliding contact with the loose side outer face of a cam chain while being enabled to warp by a reaction from a cam chain side; and a plurality of leaf springs 41 and 42 overlapped and clamped between the tensioner arm body 39 and the slipper 40.
