To provide a chain for a tenter clip or the like requiring no use of grease to require no grease supply or maintenance, having durable connection pins excellent in wear resistance, allowing no extension of the chain, and easy to assemble, disassemble and clean.

This chain mechanism comprises roller links 11, pin links 18 each connecting two roller links 11, and connection pins 15 for journaling the roller links 11 to pin links 18. An engineering plastic layer 16 is formed on one or both of the outer circumferential face of the connection pin 15 and the inner circumferential face of a roller 13 of the roller link 11 into which the connection pin 15 is inserted. The engineering plastic layer 16 is preferably polyimide.
