To provide a chainless container carrier capable of realizing the correct position accuracy of a container holder to be carried to each station of the container feed, the filling, the lid seal and the like in a filling and packaging machine by basically avoiding problems which essentially rise by using an endless chain attributable to elongation and the structure of the endless chain in a container transport conveyor of a known filling and packaging machine.

In the container carrier to hold and carry a prismatic container 36 by a container holder 34 formed between container carrying means 32 and 33 disposed facing each other, each container carrying means comprises a large number of blocks 40 having a holding unit 38 to constitute a part of the container holder, on-going and returning block supporting members 42 and 44 to support the blocks movably along the transferring direction, a first delivery means 46 which is supported by the on-going block supporting member and successively delivers the transferred blocks to the returning block supporting member, a second delivery means 48 which is supported by the returning block supporting member and successively delivers the transferred blocks to the on-going block supporting member, and a block feed-out means 50 capable of feeding out/transferring the blocks so that each block is circulated.
