PURPOSE: To freely select the cooling or heating of own free will and to do without space for installing a cooling or heating device, by incorporating the cooling or heating device in the title chair, and the device uses thermoelectric transducers with Peltier effect.

CONSTITUTION: A cooling or heating device 3 using thermoelectric transducers 2 with Peltier effect is installed at the backrest part of a chair 1. The cooling or heating device 3 can be connected to a.c. power through a wiring 4, and on the way of the wiring 4, a rectifier 5 for changing an alternating current into a direct current and a current direction-selecting device 6 for inverting the direction of the direct current, are provided. For the cooling or heating device 3, a heat-absorbing or radiating plate 7 is fixed to the surface sides of the two thermoelectric transducers 2 band-shaped, and heat-exchanging fins 8 are fixed to the rear sides thereof. When the direct current is applied to these thermoelectric transducers 2, a heat-absorbing or radiating phenomenon occurs. As the result of it, the heat-absorbing or radiating plate 7 on the surface sides thereof is cooled or heated, and this heat is emitted by the heat-exchanging fins 8.
