In the chair provided with a shell-like back plate 14 composed of a synthetic resin, the back plate 14 is turned to the form that a back pad part 15 and a hip pad part 16 are integrally continued. The maximum horizontal width in the front view of the back pad part 15 and the hip pad part 16 is a dimension substantially the same as the horizontal width of a seat 2, and both left and right end parts of the hip pad part 16 are turned to forward projected parts 16a projecting to the front more than the lower end of the back pad part 15. Also, the boundary part of the back pad part 15 and the hip pad part 16 is turned to a narrowed part 3a. The degree of the recess of the hip pad part 16 is highest and the degree of the recess is reduced as upward approaching.
