To provide a finger vein authentication system for authenticating biological information with high security in a shorter period of time.
This system is provided with a finger vein authentication requesting device 1 connected through a network 3 for making an authentication request using a finger vein pattern; and a finger vein collation processing server 2 for performing authentication in response to an authentication request, and for returning an authentication result. The finger vein authentication requesting device 1 is provided with a means 11 for picking up the image of a finger vein; a means (not shown in a figure) for generating a finger vein pattern for authentication on the basis of the picked-up image; a display input means 12; a communication means 13; and a control management means (not shown in a figure) for transmitting necessary information in response to the finger vein collation processing server 2. The finer vein collation processing server 2 is provided with a vein database 21; a request information determination part 22 for determining the site of a collation object; an information transmission/reception part 23; and a finger vein pattern collation part 24 for collating the finger vein pattern received from the finger vein authentication requesting device 1 to perform personal identification. Thus, it is possible to restrict candidates by performing partial collation at first.
