PURPOSE: To enable channel selection presetting with increased accuracy by deciding whether or not there is a broadcasting station according to the detection signal of a sound carrier detecting means, a horizontal synchronizing signal, and an AFT detection output signal.
CONSTITUTION: A channel selection presetting device 30 includes a sound carrier detecting circuit 16. Further, a PIF circuit 12 outputs an AFT detecting output signal VAFT corresponding to the deviation between the video intermediate frequency of an intermediate frequency signal inputted from a tuner 11 and a reference video intermediate frequency. A synchronous separating circuit 15 extracts the horizontal synchronizing signal VH and a sound carrier detecting circuit 16 generates a sound carrier detection signal VSC; and those signals are both inputted to a microcomputer 14. Then whether the received signal contains a sound carrier or not is detected and it is decided whether or not there is a receiving broadcasting station according to the detection result, AFT detection output signal, and horizontal synchronizing signal. Consequently, the accuracy of decision making about broadcasting stations in channel selection presetting can be increased without spoiling the response.
