PURPOSE: To execute detailed arrangement control between Japanese sentences and English sentences in the mixed print of Japanese and alphabetical characters e.g. by properly using a reference line in accordance with attributes attached to each character such as the shape, style of type and size of each character.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of inputting a character or its attached attribute as necessary, its corresponding reference line is determined by referring a reference line corresponding table 206 and the relative position of the character from the reference line can be found out by referring an arrangement control data table 207. In addition, the position of a required character can be found out by referring a reference line position table 204. Since the arrangement of each character can be controlled also in the direction vertical to the reference line, the detailed character arrangement control of various kinds of characters or a document mixing Japanese and English sentences can be attained.
