PURPOSE: To simply and surely interrupt the inner light from permeating an intermediate bore section by applying an opaque coating with the same color as that of a metal plate on the intermediate bore section of a character on the metal plate inserted and fixed with the transparent or opaque character in a hole section of the metal plate.

CONSTITUTION: A transparent or opaque character 3 with the preset shape is inserted and fixed in a hole section 61 with the preset shape formed on a metal plate 6 for a character-luminous number plate 4. The character 3 is constituted of a character section 31, a substrate section 32 and an intermediate bore section 33. The character section 31 is inserted and fixed into the hole section 61. The opaque coating 7 with the same color as that of the metal plate 6 is applied on the intermediate bore section 33. The light from an illumination lamp 5 arranged inside the character-luminous number plate 4 is interrupted from permeating by the paint 7. Such necessity as to heat-press an insert or mold a character in advance as before can be resolved.
