PURPOSE: To execute beautiful character processing and to simplify circuitry by reading out the characters, symbols, etc., of an outline display system to send to a conversion circuit, converting these characters, etc., to the beautiful characters, symbols, etc., of a dot display system and storing the characters, etc., into a frame buffer.

CONSTITUTION: The conversion circuit 3 converts the characters, symbols, etc., of the outline display system sent from an outline memory device 1 to the characters, symbols, etc., of the dot display system. The frame buffer 4 stores the characters, symbols, etc., of the dot display system sent from the conversion circuit 3. A control section 2 controls the outline memory device 1, the conversion circuit 3 and the frame buffer 4, receives and analyzes input codes 20, and reads the characters, symbols, etc., of the outline display system corresponding to the input codes 20 out of the outline memory device 1. The beautiful characters are obtd. in this way and the circuitry is not so large in scale and is simplified.
