PURPOSE: To perform an information processing by using an accurate zip code by displaying a zip code obtained by retrieval on a display part when the zip code included in a character string with an address is compared with the zip code obtained by the retrieval of an address dictionary and noncoincidence is obtained.

CONSTITUTION: When the address is read, the address dictionary 7 is retrieved setting a recognized address as a key, and the zip code corresponding to the address is obtained. When coincidence is obtained between the zip code included in the character string in advance and the zip code obtained by the retrieval, the zip code is used in a following information processing. Also, when the noncoincidence is obtained, the zip code obtained by the retrieval is displayed on a recognition result display part 8 with the address, which expedites an operator to confirm them. Also when no zip code is entered, the zip code obtained by the retrieval is displayed with the address, which also expedites the confirmation of the operator. In such a way, it is possible to use the address and the zip code corresponding to the address accurately in the following information processing.
