PURPOSE: To standardize the apparent size of a character in one composition by finding a reproduction character size for reproduction to a size nearly equal to the outward size of a standard character from the character size and weight of a specified character and the weight of the standard character.
CONSTITUTION: The size l1 and weight d1 of the character are stored in a standard size register 4 and a standard weight register 5 respectively. Then when the specified size l1 of the specified character to the outputted is equal to the size l1 of the standard character which is reproduced before the character and the weight d2 is different from the weight d1, the reproduction character size for reproduction to the size nearly equal to the outward size of the standard character is found from the character size l1 and weight d1 of the specified character and the weight d1 of the standard character. Then, this character is reproduced with the reproduction character size and specified weight. Consequently, the outward size of the character can be equalized.
