Abstract:
To provide a charge applying device and method, easily and inexpensively applying charges of various levels to the surface of a sheet.
While an electric insulating sheet is traveled in contact with a charge attract electrode, charged electrons are supplied from a charge supply electrode disposed in non-contact with the sheet to the surface of the sheet, and the insulating resistance value of a conductive member disposed in the vicinity of the charge supply electrode is switched and/or the voltage applied to the charge supply electrode is controlled to easily control the charging level to the sheet surface in a wide range.
