Abstract:

To provide a high-quality electrostatic charge-image-developing toner, having excellent.,, safety and charge stability and not causing copy contamination that may be caused by a continuous copying operation, and a charge imparting material by using a metallic complex or metallic salt of a specific compound as a charge controlling agent.

A charge controlling agent for developing an electrostatic charge image is a metallic complex or metallic salt of a compound represented by formula I. In formula I, A1 represents an organic cyclic residual group. The organic cyclic residual group is a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon residual group that is either monocyclic or derived from condensation of an aromatic ring, or a heterocyclic residual group derived from condensation of an aromatic ring. The metallic complex or metallic salt of the compound is those represented by formulae II to IV. In formulae II to IV, a fluorene ring, a cyclohexane ring, and a xanthene ring may further have a substituent. A metal forming a complex or salt with the compound is selected from among B, Mg, Al, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn.
