This CCD type solid-state imaging device (area sensor) is provided with: light receiving parts aligned like a matrix; a vertical transfer part arranged at each vertical column of the light receiving parts for transferring an electric charge transferred from the light receiving part to a vertical direction; a horizontal transfer part for transferring the charge transferred from the vertical transfer part to a horizontal direction; and a charge detection part for detecting the charge transferred from the horizontal transfer part. The horizontal transfer part has a first horizontal transfer part and a second horizontal transfer part separated by a channel stop area, and the first horizontal transfer part and the second horizontal transfer part have almost the same lengths, and the charge detection part is arranged at almost the central part of the horizontal transfer part.
