PURPOSE: To provide a charger for a battery, which can let us know whether the battery is good or bad at the time of charge to the battery.

CONSTITUTION: This charger is equipped with a detecting means 11, which detects the voltage across the terminals of a battery 7, a comparing and judging means 12, which compares the voltage value across the terminals of the battery detected with this detecting means 11 with the specified voltage value preset, and a means 16 for coping with charge abnormality which stops the charge to the battery 7, when the comparing and judging means 12 judges that it is lower than the voltage value between the battery terminals at the point of time when a preset specified time has passed from the start of the charge to the battery 7, and performs the information of abnormality state.
