The charger for the portable telephone is used for charging a secondary battery built in the portable telephone by using the direct-type methanol fuel battery, and comprises at least a box, the direct-type methanol fuel battery arranged inside the box, a terminal that feeds power outputted from the direct-type methanol fuel battery arranged inside the box to the portable telephone, and a holding part that installs and holds the portable telephone at a prescribed interval from the box. A space surrounded by the box and the portable telephone when the portable telephone is installed to the box serves as an air path having at least two openings. The structure of the portable telephone is determined such that an effective area of the opening of the air path that is an air feed opening, and an effective area of the opening that is an air discharge opening have a specified relation.
