PURPOSE: To obtain a charger for a portable telephone, in which a charging time is equalized regardless of the ON-OFF states of the power supply of portable telephone itself.

CONSTITUTION: A charger for a portable telephone 1 has a charger body connected to the portable telephone 1 for charging the portable telephone 1, a current source 3 supplying currents charged to the portable telephone 1, and a portable telephone detachable detecting means 2 detecting whether or not the portable telephone 1 and the charger body are connected. A power-supply state detecting means 5 detecting the state of the power supply of portable telephone 1 itself and a current control means 6 controlling current feed from the current source 3 on the basis of an output from the power-supply state detecting means 5 are provided.
