PURPOSE: To provide a charging device for an electric automobile capable of maintaining a battery at the optimum temperature for efficiently performing the charge and discharge of the battery while restraining the increase of the vehicle weight of an electric automobile to the utmost.
CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner unit 12 for adjusting in-cabin temperature is also used to adjust battery temperature. In accordance with the next use time of an electric automobile 10 to be inputted in a charge control part 24 from a charge panel 22 or the temperature of a battery 14 to be detected by a temperature sensor 16, the air conditioner unit 12 is controlled to supply cooling air or heating air to the inside of a heat-insulating cover 28 housing the battery 14 to maintain the battery 14 at optimum temperature for charging and using. This cooling air or heating air is supplied through a duct 30 communicating the air conditioner unit 12 with the heat-insulating cover 28.
