Abstract:

To emergently charge a high-voltage battery stably and reliably without being affected by the state of the power supply system of an own vehicle.

If the high-voltage battery 2 is discharged and an engine is hardly started by the battery alone, a low-voltage battery 100 mounted on a rescue vehicle is connected to supply power to a charging device 10 from the outside. When a starting switch 16 is kept pressed for a given period of time or more, an emergent charging sequence starts. A charging DC voltage supplied via the relay contact of a low-voltage input relay 13 is converted into a high-frequency AC voltage by a switching circuit. By boosting and rectifying the converted AC voltage, high voltage and current required for charging are generated and the charging current is supplied to the high-voltage battery 2 via the relay contact of a high-voltage charging relay 20. During the charge of the high-voltage battery 2, the state of charging is monitored, and if any abnormality is detected, the charging is stopped immediately. When it is in order, the charging is stopped by a timer after the lapse of a certain charging time.
