Abstract:
To provide a charging member which has excellent surface mechanical durability and oxidation resistance, and with which image defects due to deposition of toner components are suppressed, also, has excellent charging characteristics, further, which can easily keep these characteristics at a high level with time, and to provide a process cartridge and an image forming apparatus using the charging member.
The charging member includes a surface layer, and at least the most outer surface portion of the surface layer contains oxygen and at least one metallic element selected out of a group composed of Ga and In and the oxygen content contained in at least the most outer surface portion of the surface layer is 15 atom%.
