PURPOSE: To eliminate the problem of the strength of a coke oven to endure the weight of a charging machine, by charging the coke oven with an ordinary mixed coal for coke by a leveller having a conveying means, and thereafter, charging with a coal for sintered coke.

CONSTITUTION: An ordinary mixed coal for coke 2 stored in a hopper 6 on the pusher-side end of a coke oven is charged to both the pusher-side and the coke- side of the coke oven by means of a leveller 7 furnished with a chain conveyor 9 extending to the whole length of the leveller 7 and driven by a driving means 8, and thereafter, a mixed coal for sintered coke is charged into the oven 1 by a charging machine through the chaging holes 5a, 5b
