This checking system for a big bundle of bills is provided with an operating means 21 for operational entry, a transporting means 14 where a big bundle of bills 12 is loaded for transporting the bundle 12, an outer appearance information detecting means 15 for detecting the outer appearance information of the bundle 12 transported by the means 14, a checking means 26 for checking the bundle 12 and outputting the check result basing on the outer appearance information detected by the means 15 and the input information inputted in the means 14, a control means 27 for changing the work of the means 14 when the bundle 12 checked is normal and when it is abnormal basing on the check result of the means 26, a posture detecting means 15 for detecting the posture of the bundle 12 and a posture changing means 16 for changing the posture of the bundle 12 to be in a predetermined check posture according to the check result of the means 15.
