PURPOSE: To execute checkout work without interrupting it by constituting the checkout device so that commodities whose commodity data are read are carried to a downstream side by a prescribed distance, and thereafter, accumulated in plural pieces of stocks.

CONSTITUTION: A customer 25 places an unregistered commodity onto a carry-in belt conveyor 12. When the commodity is carried to this side of a bar-code scanner 11 by the conveyor 12, an operator 21 executes a read work by the scanner 11. On the other hand, a registered commodity is placed on a distributing belt conveyor 13 and further carried to a downstream side, and accumulated in that which is provided on a distribution side of stock parts 14, 15 and 16. On the other hand, the customer 25 waits in the vicinity of the conveyor 13, while the registration work is executed, and when the registration work is finished, he finishes the payment of the price to a cashier 23, and thereafter, goes to the stock part to which his own commodity is carried among the stock parts 14, 15 and 16, and executes a bag packing work of the commodity.
