PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow information to be collected by questionnaire without delaying a settlement process.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a checkout system includes a register for generating transaction information for settlement of a commodity, and an accounting apparatus for settling the transaction information. The register includes: setting means for generating setting information for controlling display at the accounting apparatus of a questionnaire on the commodity; and transmission means for transmitting the setting information to the accounting apparatus.
