Abstract:
To produce a new chelate-forming fiber having excellent performance to capture metals and metalloids by chelate formation, enabling easy incineration, or the like, and safely producible by a simple method at a low cost and develop the process for the production and the use of the fiber.
The objective chelate-forming fiber contains a group of formula (1) (R1 is H, a 1-4C alky1, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl; R2 is a 1-4C alky1, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl; R1 and R2 may be the same groups or different groups) in the fiber molecule and has a chelate-forming performance with metals or metalloids. This invention also provides its production process and a method for capturing metals or metalloids by using the fiber.
