Abstract:

To provide a chelate-forming fiber introduced with a chelate-forming functional group in the fiber molecule and capable of capturing metal ions in better efficiency, and a method for treating water.

This chelate-forming fiber improved with metal-capturing capacity by changing an acid type functional group having a chelate-forming function to an alkali metal salt type or an ammonium salt type is provided. The method for treating metal ion-containing water by using the chelate-forming fiber introduced with the acid type chelate-forming functional group in fiber molecule is provided by changing the acid type functional group to the alkali metal salt type or the ammonium salt type and then making a contact with the metal ion-containing water for improving the metal ion-capturing capacity.
