Abstract:

To provide a chemical filter which has a filter medium with high strength and maintains performance of removing ionic gaseous pollutants for a long period of time.

The chemical filter is obtained by processing a filter medium for the chemical filter. The filter medium for the chemical filter is a woven or non-woven fabric comprising organic fibers having a hydroxyl group. A cation exchange group is introduced into the organic fibers having a hydroxyl group by radiation graft polymerization. The ion exchange capacity of the cation exchange group of the filter medium for the chemical filter is 400 meq/m2 or higher. The filter medium for the chemical filter has a tensile strength of 5-20 N/15 mm.
