To efficiently and quickly decompose toxic chemical substances by utilizing cavitation bubbles generated in a liquid by ultrasonic waves or the like by making catalyst coexist in a solution in a method of generating a high temperature and high pressure by a cavitation bubble generating means and decomposing chemical substances in the solution.
Cavitation bubbles are generated by an ultrasonic oscillation in a solution containing toxic chemical substances to decompose the toxic chemical substances. Namely H and OH radicals are generated following the generation of cavitation bubbles in the vicinity of the cavitation bubbles, and the radicals are reacted with the toxic chemical substances. When the bubbles are formed or collapsed, the temperature and pressure are risen and increased to gasify and pyrolyze or burn volatile compounds (molecular compounds). Namely both of the radical reactions and pyrolysis reaction are actuated. As the mechanism of pyrolysis generated by the cavitation bubbles is the oxidative reaction, it is desirable for the catalyst to be used to adopt an oxidation catalyst for accelerating the oxidation.
