Abstract:

To provide a chemical thermal storage medium superior in heat transfer characteristics and capable of obtaining high reaction speed, and a chemical heat pump using the chemical thermal storage medium.

The chemical thermal storage medium 6 is a molded product obtained by compressing expanded graphite, wherein particles including any of hydroxide, chloride, or sulfate of Mg, Ca, Sr, and Ba as a principal component are carried on the surface, into a predetermined shape to be molded. The chemical heat pump 1 includes: a reaction vessel 2 housing the chemical thermal storage medium 6; a storage container 3 wherein water vapor is liquefied or evaporated; a gas flow passage 4 connecting the reaction vessel 2 and the storage container 3 to each other; and an open/close valve 5 arranged in the gas flow passage 4.
