PURPOSE: To prevent the positional deviation of many chillers for quick cooling of cam parts after a casting operation and to permit the easy cleaning thereof in a casting device for a cam shaft by disposing said chillers perpendicularly to each other and attaching freely engageably and disengageably the chillers by means of cross girders which move relatively to each other.
CONSTITUTION: Wear resistance in operation is required for the nose parts of cams and therefore the chillers are disposed in the cam nose parts of a casting mold in the stage of casting to cool quickly the cam nose parts of the casting so that the surface in said part is made of the hard material of the white pig iron consisting of cementite as the essential structure in the stage of casting the cam shaft. Guide pins 4 for the chillers 6 are provided to the 1st cross girders 3 attached to a molding flask 1 and the suspending hooks 14 for the chillers 6 are provided to the movable 2nd cross girders 13 attached in the direction perpendicular to the 1st cross girders 1. The chillers are disposed to the cam nose parts of the casting mold by moving the girders 13 and are positioned by the pins 4 by which the sand mold for the cam shaft is molded. The chillers are set in the prescribed position without intrusion into the molding sand in the stage of knock-out after casting and the easy removal of the chillers from the hooks 14 and cleaning thereof are made possible.
