To provide a chip type fuse element of instantaneous fusion capable of being efficiently fused by Joule's heat generated by a fusible body.

A chip type fuse element 1 has a fusible body 5 formed inside substrates 2 and 3. A heat reflecting body 8 is provided to face the fusible body 5. The fusible body 5, for example, is so formed as to penetrate a cavity 4 inside the substrates 2 and 3, with the heat reflecting body 8 provided to enclose it. The heat reflecting body 8 is formed of metal, as an example. The metal can be one or more kinds selected from among Ag, Cu, Au, Pt, Pd, and Ni.
