To provide a fixed blade for a chipper capable of cutting a material to be cut to the size which facilitates the composting of the material, and to provide the chipper.
A platen 60 for mounting a rotary blade of the chipper 10 has a plurality of disc blades 70 and long rotary blades 50 alternately arranged at an interval of 90°. In addition, a long fixed blade 48 is arranged at a cutting position of the material 20. Further, a recessed groove 80 for allowing entry of the disc blade 70 is formed on the back of the edge 48A of the fixed blade 48. When the platen 60 rotates, first a plurality of longitudinal slits are formed in the end 20A of the material 20 by the disc blade 70. In succession, the rotary blade 50 is swung down to the end 20A and split open in the crosswise direction. Thus, the material 20 is finely cut in the longitudinal and the crosswise direction and easily composted.
