Title:
CHIRP PULSE MULTIPLEX WAVELENGTH COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09172429
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a difficult problem caused by using one modulator for each wavelength by individually modulating each wavelength of a chirped light pulse by means of a single fast 1-channel modulator. SOLUTION: A short light pulse from a laser 201 passes through a dispenser 202 to be chirped to straight linear. This dispenser consist of a standard communication fiber such as a single node type fiber, e.g. and is provided with a distributed parameter D and a length of about 1 to 20km. This linear chirped pulse is provided with the pulse width in the range of 1 to 20ns and its accurate pulse width is determined corresponding to the band width of the threshold of a light source and the distribution length of a stretching fiber. On the other hand, the chirped pulse consists of a series of pulses with a systematically increasing wavelength and a frequency depending filter 206 is connected to the output of the dispenser 202 to fix one of optical wavelength channels or all the output spectrum.
